Department:
Implementation of any Hardware/ Software based solution in an Organization needs a solid, scalable and flexible framework of data communication network. UJVNL has deployed adaptive and robust network infrastructure based on standards-based technology, conforming to ISO/IEC 11801.IT department is looking after the management of various activities related to Accounts, Finance, Material Management, HR and Commercial. Better communication/Problem troubleshooting is the main aim of IT
department.
Corporate Expectations from IT
1. Better Data/Information Availability as well as better
Communication.
2. Efficient and Better Decision Making.
3. Effective Monitoring & Control on Revenue and
Expenses.
4. Cost Competitiveness vis a vis current
operations.
Current Status of IT department:
IT department has its own well developed Server Network, LAN/WAN Network dedicated to provide reliable information. Head Office (UJJWAL), and its two offices viz. Ganga Bhawan and Yamuna Bhawan have been connected on LAN through 2 Mbps Lease Line. The connectivity of other Offices & Power Houses are under process.
Actions completed:
1. LAN connectivity in UJJWAL Office Complex, Ganga Bhawan,Yamuna Bhawan and GM(SHP) office has been completed (It is equipped with all facilities along with lease line facility for Internet, Phone, Video conferencing capability, High Speed
Internet).
2. Various services like E-mail, Webchat, Webmail, Bulletin Board, Search Engines has been provided with Internet to the employees of
UJVNL.
3. Demand Based Supply of PCs and peripherals to all the Offices & Power
Houses.
4. Lease line of 512 KBPS has been setup in UJJWAL premises for high speed
Internet.
5. Procurement of Servers(s) for Management of Mail (Mail Server), Security and protection against viruses(Anti Virus server), Resource sharing (Printers,Files ,Internet ,other IT equipments)
etc.
6. E-payroll System has been established at
CSPPO.
7. Hardware Firewall has been installed at
server room at UJJWAL for Security of Network.
Long Term Actions:
1. Communication backbone for Power Houses & Other Offices
Connectivity.
2. Work flow Application for Efficient Work Disposal.
3. Corporate level Integrated ERP
Implementation.
Hardware Procurement in Action:
(a) Setting of individual LAN at each Power Plant and connection of these sites to the Head
Office.
(b) Interlinking of WAN with SCADA which in turn will depend on implementation of RM&U
plan.
Software Procurement Long Term Action:
(a) Procurement of databases
(b) Procurement of ERP for Corporate level data integration. (c) Procurement of NMS
