| Subsequent
to creation of Uttaranchal by carving out Kumaun and Garhwal
region out of undivided UP on 9th Nov 2000, Uttaranchal
Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) was incorporated
under the Companies Act 1956, on 14th Feb'2001 with the objective
of operating, maintaining & constructing Hydro Power Plants.
Presently
four
large (>100 MW), four
medium (25 MW-100MW) and 32
small (<25 MW) Hydro Power Plants, are owned, operated
& maintained by Uttaranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. |

A
major hydropower project Maneri-Bhali Stage-II, is under construction
. Besides Maneri-Bhali Stage-II project, work on eleven small hydro
power stations (total 30.7 MW) are
under various stages of construction. The Government of Uttaranchal
has allotted five large & medium hydro power projects and nine small
hydro projects to UJVNL. These are as follows in addition to those
under development & construction.

operation, maintenance and construction of hydro power plants, UJVNL
is also responsible for assisting the Government of Uttaranchal in
developing hydro Power Projects, through Central & other state
sector corporations or IPP's both national & international. |
